This project combines legal research with an evaluation of AI reasoning. California family-law discovery is used as the test domain because it requires the model to interpret requests, apply legal rules to evidence, distinguish supported facts from uncertainty, protect confidential information, and remain consistent when facts change.

The project is primarily an AI reasoning evaluation, not a legal-service tool or a substitute for professional legal advice. The author conducted this project as independent research. The materials do not constitute legal representation, a legal opinion for any specific person, or authoritative advice for a real case.

All names, parties, documents, transactions, accounts, addresses, telephone numbers, and property details are fictional and created solely for research and evaluation. No material from any real case, client, or organization was used. The model outputs and scores are research results. They must not be filed with a court, sent to an opposing party, used in a real legal matter, or relied upon without review by a qualified attorney.

The rubric reflects the author's research design, selected legal sources, and stated assumptions. It does not establish the law for every jurisdiction or case. Actual legal work requires review of the governing law, current court rules, case-specific facts, and advice from qualified legal professionals.

**Draft status.** This is ongoing research. Only Base has completed author adjudication; T1–T7 author adjudication remains pending. The work has not undergone peer review or comprehensive independent attorney validation. Limited source, packaging and offline code checks are not equivalent to those reviews. Methods, references, findings and interpretations remain provisional and subject to revision. A future discovery tool is proposed work, not a validated product.

**Licensing is separate from research status.** Public reuse is governed by LICENSE and the referenced noncommercial terms. The author retains the ability to submit and discuss author-controlled work for fellowship, employment, funding and collaboration assessment and to grant separate permissions. The additional permission in LICENSE also covers code execution and experiment reproduction for assessment or independent research verification, including by reviewers at commercial organizations. This does not grant recipients unrestricted commercial reuse or override third-party rights.
